Hausberg No.4 is a limited-edition German Dry Gin inspired by the alpine landscapes of Bavaria and Austria. Bottled at 44.4% ABV and produced in quantities of just 300 bottles per year, this distinctive craft gin combines wild mountain herbs, spruce needles and pink grapefruit to create a bold and refreshing flavour profile with remarkable depth and character.
Hausberg No.4 captures the aromas and flavours of the mountains through a carefully selected blend of alpine botanicals. Wild herbs gathered from high-altitude regions contribute freshness and complexity, while spruce needles add distinctive forest-like notes that evoke the atmosphere of alpine landscapes.
The result is a gin that offers a unique connection to nature while maintaining the structure and balance expected from a premium Dry Gin.
At the heart of Hausberg No.4 is a combination of classic juniper and unusual alpine botanicals.
Spruce needles contribute resinous, evergreen aromas that create depth and complexity, while mountain herbs add freshness and herbal intensity. Bright pink grapefruit introduces a refreshing citrus element that balances the richer botanical notes and adds vibrancy to the overall flavour profile.
Angelica root acts as a bridge between these ingredients, helping create harmony between citrus, juniper and herbal flavours.
The aroma opens with fresh grapefruit and juniper, followed by layers of forest herbs and subtle pine-like notes from the spruce needles.
On the palate, classic juniper remains clearly present while the alpine botanicals contribute earthy, herbal complexity. The finish is long, refreshing and aromatic, leaving lingering notes of citrus, herbs and mountain forest character.
Like the other expressions in the Hausberg range, No.4 is produced using individual botanical distillation. Each ingredient is distilled separately before being carefully cold blended into the final recipe.
This method preserves freshness, ensures consistency and allows every botanical to contribute its full aromatic potential to the finished gin.
The production of Hausberg No.4 is intentionally limited due to the seasonal nature of its alpine ingredients. Many of the herbs used in the recipe grow at high altitudes where climatic conditions encourage the development of concentrated aromas and flavours.
By limiting production to approximately 300 bottles annually, Hausberg maintains strict quality standards while preserving the unique character of its alpine botanicals.
Hausberg No.4 pairs exceptionally well with premium Indian Tonic and Dry Tonic Water. The tonic enhances the grapefruit and herbal notes while preserving the gin’s distinctive mountain character.
Its bold profile also makes it an excellent choice for cocktails such as the Gin Basil Smash, Grapefruit Collins and Alpine Gin Mule. Garnishes such as grapefruit zest, rosemary and juniper berries further highlight its botanical complexity.
Hausberg No.4 contains no added sugar and no artificial flavourings. Every flavour originates from carefully selected natural botanicals and precise distillation techniques.
This commitment to authenticity allows the gin’s alpine ingredients to remain the true focus of the drinking experience.
Hausberg No.4 received recognition at the Craft Spirits Festival Berlin, where it was awarded a Bronze Medal in the New Western Style Gin category.
This achievement highlights the originality of its alpine-inspired recipe and the craftsmanship behind its production.
Combining mountain herbs, spruce needles and pink grapefruit, Hausberg No.4 delivers a distinctive interpretation of modern gin making.
Fresh, herbaceous and highly aromatic, this limited-edition German craft gin offers a taste of the mountains in every glass.
