Hausberg No.2 Negroni Sour – A Citrus Twist on the Classic Negroni

The Hausberg No.2 Negroni Sour combines the bittersweet complexity of a traditional Negroni with the smooth texture and bright citrus freshness of a classic Gin Sour.

Built around the fruit-forward character of Hausberg No.2 Dry Gin, this modern cocktail balances mandarin, sea buckthorn, herbal bitterness and fresh lemon, creating a sophisticated serve with exceptional depth and freshness.

A Modern Fusion of Two Cocktail Classics

The Negroni Sour takes inspiration from two iconic cocktails. The herbal bitterness of red vermouth and Campari-style bitter provides the classic Negroni structure, while fresh lemon juice and egg white create the silky texture associated with a traditional Gin Sour.

Hausberg No.2 adds an extra layer of citrus complexity thanks to its distinctive mandarin and sea buckthorn botanicals, making this version particularly bright and approachable.

Hausberg No.2 Negroni Sour Recipe

  • 30 ml Hausberg No.2 Dry Gin
  • 25 ml Red Bitter (Campari)
  • 25 ml Red Vermouth
  • 30 ml Fresh lemon juice
  • 15 ml Cane syrup
  • 1 Egg white or aquafaba

Garnish

  • Orange zest

Method

Select a chilled tumbler or coupe glass.

Add Hausberg No.2 Dry Gin, red bitter, red vermouth, fresh lemon juice, cane syrup and egg white (or aquafaba) to a cocktail shaker.

Shake vigorously with ice.

Strain the mixture back into the shaker and perform a dry shake without ice to create a rich and stable foam.

Fine strain into the prepared glass.

Express the oils from a fresh orange zest over the cocktail and place the zest on top of the foam.

Flavour Profile

The Hausberg No.2 Negroni Sour delivers an elegant balance of bitterness, citrus and sweetness.

Hausberg No.2 contributes fresh mandarin and sea buckthorn notes that brighten the cocktail and soften the traditional bitterness of the Negroni ingredients. Fresh lemon juice adds structure and acidity, while the foam creates a smooth and velvety mouthfeel.

The finish is long, refreshing and pleasantly bittersweet.

When to Serve This Cocktail

This cocktail works beautifully as an aperitif, but its softer texture and fresh citrus character also make it suitable for cocktail evenings and special occasions.

The balance between bitterness and freshness makes it particularly appealing to drinkers who enjoy both classic Negronis and modern sour-style cocktails.

A Sophisticated Negroni with Citrus Elegance

Combining the structure of a Negroni with the smooth texture of a Gin Sour, the Hausberg No.2 Negroni Sour offers a contemporary cocktail experience built around the distinctive character of Hausberg No.2.

Fresh, bittersweet and beautifully balanced, it delivers a modern interpretation of two timeless cocktail classics.
