Origins & Philosophy

Our Gin was founded by a passionate spirits professional with a strong connection to the sea and years of experience in the beverage industry. After working onboard cruise ships and in brand development, she decided to create a gin that reflects what gin “should truly be”: refined, layered, and made with uncompromising quality.

Creation & Distillation

During the development phase, dozens of recipes were tested, using more than forty different ingredients, before the final selection was made. In the end, twelve botanicals were chosen, led by one defining ingredient: wakame seaweed. This makes our Gin the first Dutch premium gin distilled with wakame.

The goal was to craft a gin that is both bold and vibrant, while still remaining smooth and elegant. A gin strong enough for cocktails, yet delicate enough to be enjoyed neat or on the rocks.

Taste Profile & Identity

This Dry Gin reflects the character of the sea: complex, layered, and full of movement. Its flavour unfolds gradually, beginning with fresh ocean-like notes, followed by a soft, marine-styled heart from the wakame, and finishing with a warm botanical spice. The result is a clear distinction between nose, mid-palate, and finish, more comparable to the structure of whisky or cognac than to most traditional gins.

The use of wakame seaweed does not create a salty or bitter taste. Instead, it delivers subtle sweetness and a smooth, velvety mouthfeel, setting Poseidon apart from classic gin expressions and reinforcing its maritime identity.

Brand Culture & Story

The brand takes its name from the Greek god Poseidon, a symbol of the sea, power, mystery and exploration. Inspired by ocean botanicals and maritime flavours, Poseidon Dry Gin aims to capture the “spirit of the sea” in both taste and identity.

Poseidon is more than a gin, it is a story. One that celebrates ocean heritage, craftsmanship, and a distinctive flavour journey shaped by the sea.
