Sorgin Gin meaning “witch” in Basque, is a distinctive premium gin that seamlessly bridges the worlds of wine and spirits. Created by Sabine Jaren and François Lurton, renowned winegrowers and owners of Château Bonnet in Bordeaux, Sorgin draws its unique character from the aromatic elegance of Sauvignon Blanc grapes. Rather than following traditional gin conventions alone, Sorgin explores a more vinous expression, resulting in a refined and expressive spirit with a truly individual identity.

Sorgin is distilled using a neutral wine spirit and carefully selected botanicals, combining classic gin structure with wine-inspired aromatics. Juniper forms the backbone, while Sauvignon Blanc distillate brings freshness, brightness and finesse. Citrus notes from grapefruit, lemon and lime zest add vibrancy, while floral accents of violet and broom flower introduce elegance and softness. Subtle herbal tones, including blackcurrant buds, complete the profile. Sorgin Gin was born in late 2016, when François Lurton chose to revive a distilling tradition first started by his great-grandfather, Léonce Récapet, in 1880. Conceived as a natural link between wine and spirits, Sorgin reflects generations of winemaking expertise translated into a modern gin expression. This heritage gives Sorgin its unmistakable character: precise, expressive and deeply rooted in terroir.

At the heart of Sorgin lies François Lurton’s long-standing affinity with Sauvignon Blanc. The grape’s vibrant aromatics and natural freshness inspired an original gin recipe that feels fruity, delicate and elegant rather than overtly heavy or spicy.
