A rich and rosy-hued expression, based on the original 1689 gin recipe discovered deep within the catacombs of the British Library. Strawberries and raspberries are added during the distillation process, giving this spiritits pink glow and fruity character, the original fruity gin!
A Dutch spirit made in the English style. As its core, Gin 1689 is a juniper berry forward-based gin.
The 1689 Dutch Pink Gin Edition elevates this classic with the natural juiciness of strawberries and the tartness of raspberries, creating alight, fuitiness with a hint of spice finish
Three centuries after gin first landed on British soil as part of King William III of Orange’s Glourious Revolution, Gin 1689 saw fit to revive history by recreating the authentic (yet coded, but more on that later) 17th-century recipe they uncovered in the archives of the Britsh Library.
With the expertise of legendary master distiller Herman Jansen and the oldest Dutch distillery in Schiedam, they meticulously decoded the centuries-old formula that had conquered the British Isles in 1689, breathing new life into the 3-century-old recipe XXXIII from ‘The Distiller of London’.
The Dutch Pink Gin Edition, was inspired by a footnote found in the original recipe: a suggestion to infuse gin with strawberries and raspberries.
Combined with juniper berries, red quince, abd pippin apple, this results in a beautifully pink-tinted spirit with an exceptional fruity flavor… the original fruity gin!
