The name “Daffy” is a nod to the 1800s, when gin was affectionately known as daffy in Britain. Even Charles Dickens praised its virtues, and “Daffy’s” bars once flourished across London and beyond.
Daffy is also known as the Goddess of Gin, a mythical figure dating back to the 1700s. She embodies the taste, charm, sophistication and complexity that define every drop of Daffy’s Gin.
We spent four years on a quest to create a gin that would stand the test of time, bold yet balanced, traditional yet innovative.
It began with sourcing the finest pure wheat grain spirit from northern France. This was distilled like malt whisky using a traditional single batch copper pot still. Then came the carefully selected botanicals, some familiar, like juniper, coriander seed and cassia bark, and some wonderfully unexpected, like Lebanese mint and rare lemon varieties.
– Nose: Fresh, woody, floral and toffee-sweet. Imagine an oriental pine forest overlooking the sea.
– Palate: Smooth and spiced with a rich oaky mouthfeel. Lively citrus and mint notes roll into red fruits and finally classic juniper.
– Finish: Long, buttery, warm and elegant, led by Lebanese mint and fine juniper, an enchanting close.
The Lebanese mint adds a signature freshness that elevates Daffy’s to something special. It harmonises beautifully with tasting notes of toffee, citrus, spice, caramel and mint, creating a gin that’s as versatile as it is unforgettable.
